Coaching Skills Workshop:
A Process to Enhance Performance, Development
& Motivation

A manager is successful only when his or her staff is effective.

Today there is a lot of pressure to do more with less, as well as to make significant changes while retaining valuable staff. A key to being successful is developing people in the organization, and aligning people to achieve shared goals.

One of the most effective ways of doing this is to support managers in using the skills of influencing, rather than controlling, and allowing people to find their own answers. Teaching managers to coach is not only a smart idea to promote the development of staff, it is also an invaluable way to create more productive relationships between managers and their staff members. Research shows that people evaluate their work experience and satisfaction based on the quality of their relationship with their boss.

Coaching is an ongoing process of supporting people to enhance their learning, performance and motivation. A coaching relationship is a dynamic partnership designed to support individuals in taking action toward the realization of goals. Using the easy-to-grasp WOW Coaching Model, managers guide individuals through a structured process of exploring powerful questions and dialogue. Managers learn how to assist people in coming to their own conclusions about the best way to enhance performance. Studies show that when people identify their own strategies for achieving goals, they are more successful. The coaching process addresses:

  • Where am I now?
  • Where do I want to be?
  • What will be the benefits?
  • What do I need to do to get there?

Workshop participants will learn:

  • What is coaching
  • When to coach
  • Why coach--the benefits of coaching
  • Who is a coach--the qualities of a coach.
  • Principals of coaching
  • The process and skills for coaching

The program is experiential and skills oriented and is custom designed to address an organization's culture. Participants are encouraged to work with real situations and cases and consider how to apply the tools when they return to the work environment. We also offer follow-up coaching support for participants.
