Organizational Change

The rapidly changing and increasingly complex global business environment places unprecedented demands on organizations and their leaders to transform organizations to ensure success. Most organizations are engaged in change efforts designed to improve competitive positions to ensure viability. Research suggests that as many as 70-80% of these efforts either "fail" or are short-lived.

Organizations that are successful in implementing change report greater employee commitment, less productivity variability during change implementation and the ability to introduce change more quickly than others, resulting in a competitive advantage. Change efforts often fail because of "resistance" and lack of alignment.

Potentials specializes in the human side of change--working with key stakeholders to create dialogue, mutual understanding and commitment to engender support and alignment for organizational change. We partner with clients to manage all levels of organizational change from diagnosis of needs, planning, implementation and sustaining change. We bring tools and processes to encourage open communication to develop clarity and commitment, including:

  • assessing the current situation and culture as well as its impact on organizational, team, and individual performance
  • appraising the current state including, analyses of critical external factors, competition, and stakeholders
  • planning and articulating the vision and the related values and beliefs needed to achieve organizational objectives
  • assessing readiness for change, including leadership commitment, business needs, environmental support, resource commitment and critical mass of supporters
  • implementing transition action plans
  • ensuring alignment of organization systems with strategic direction for sustained change
  • monitoring and evaluating progress
